MEDITATION JUST AS EFFECTIVE AS ANITDEPRESSANTS?


A paper last year in the Journal of the American Association published that medication has real tangible benefits.The studies were centred around 'mindfulness meditation programs' that invoved 20-30 sessions of training over an eight week period. It concluded the following:
"Clinicians should be aware that meditation programs can result in small to moderate reductions of multiple negative dimensions of psychological stress. Thus, clinicians should be prepared to talk with the patients about the role that a meditation program could have in addressing psychological stress."

[If you or anyone you know are on antidepressants and wish to get off them, do not stop or reduce medication unless you have consulted your medical doctor. You can always start mindful meditation, and while on medication work with your GP and mental health professionals.]
